Morehead’s inaugural Stemville Science Symposium is a one day science conference for 4th-7th graders that will be held on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill campus at Morehead Planetarium and Science Center. The conference will feature a light breakfast reception in the Rotunda, keynote address in the GSK Fulldome Theatre, and breakout science enrichment and learning sessions facilitated by undergraduate and graduate students from UNC and NCSU. The morning will be filled with local high school volunteers assisting the conference participants. The conference participants are expected to be a reflection of the underserved and underrepresented groups in STEM education with a target focus on rural and urban communities of lower socioeconomic status, Latinos, women, and African-Americans; however, everyone is welcome. This is a joint effort and collaboration with the UNC Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs – Latino Collaborative and Initiative and NCSU College of Sciences – Office of Diversity and Student Services.

Students will have the opportunity to attend three hands-on STEM sessions. The registration form asks that parents and students rank all five of the session options that are available to them (1 being most preferred session, 5 being least preferred session). We will do our very best to make sure that students are put into the sessions they prefer, however, we cannot guarantee that all students will be placed in the session listed as their top choice.
After completing the registration form, you will be given the option to pay using a credit or debit card. Payment by check is also an option. Checks must be postmarked by March 14. After March 14 your student’s registration will be cancelled. All payments are non-refundable. If you choose to pay with check, please make all checks payable to:
