Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts and surrounding environment through a gentle, nurturing lens. When we practice mindfulness, our thoughts tune into the present.
CASE is partnering with the IL chapter of Coalition of Schools Educating Mindfully (COSEM) to form a new mindfulness-focused learning team for the 2019-2020 school year.
Through this COSEM facilitated meeting, CASE hopes to empower educators to explore, personally practice, and then integrate mindfulness in their classrooms. Visit educatingmindfully.org/chapters for more information.
Each meeting will include:

• Introductions
• Mindful check-in and reflection practice
• Presentation of mindfulness-themed learning topic
• Discussion
• Practice
• Building your student mindfulness toolkits
• Networking and information exchange

Attending all five of the meetings is recommended, but not required. Meetings will end with COSEM then hosting their Educating Mindfully Conference on Feb 27-Mar 1, and on Mar 10-11, the author of Alphabreaths and Raising Resilience, Dr. Chris Willard presentation for Glenbard Parent Series.

Meetings will be facilitated by various members of Coalition of Schools Educating Mindfully (COSEM) including Jenny Franz, School Counselor at Downers Grove South High School, Gene Olsen, Director of Student Services at CCSD 89, and Sally Green, Teaching and Learning Coach at Valley View CSD 365U.

COSEM is an educator-led 501c3 nonprofit that supports school communities by connecting them with mentors, trainings, and resources for mindfulness-based social, emotional, and academic learning. They empower educators to explore, personally practice, and then integrate mindfulness in their classrooms.
