Learning is Not a Spectator Sport
Learning isn’t a spectator sport. Learning to read, write, and develop vocabulary is a life-long journey. To begin that journey, students must want to become invested in their own learning. As teachers, we have all met students who appear unmotivated and uninterested in learning. Teachers play a crucial role in helping students decide to invest in learning and become engaged in the classroom.
Participants will leave this workshop understanding barriers to student motivation, four “drivers” of student engagement, and how to plan lessons so that students will choose to engage and invest in learning in the classroom. Participants will also learn instructional strategies that promote student engagement in each of the “drivers.”
