2013 Division of Human Resources Lunch and Learn Series: How to Get Fit
Time: 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM
Location: Heer Hall Room 107
Event Description: Presented by Dr. Ellen Glickman
Aging is an inevitable process, but the rate and magnitude of the decline in physiological function may be decreased by an exercise or activity intervention. The risk of chronic disease, however, increases through the lifespan. Therefore, there is a greater need to assess the individual’s aerobic capacity, muscular strength, balance, body composition and flexibility in an effort to formulate an individualized program of exercise for the older adult. Once these factors are gathered, the individual can engage in a program of exercise.
The December Lunch and Learn presentation, titled “How to Get Fit,” will take place on Dec. 5 from noon-1 p.m. in the Heer Hall Training room.
This month’s presenter is Ellen Glickman, Ph.D. Glickman is professor and coordinator of exercise physiology in the School of Health Sciences at Kent State University. Her presentation will discuss the overall benefits of exercise and integrated into the presentation will be an overview of the faculty/staff exercise program. The faculty/staff exercise program is offered and supported by Kent State’s Division of Human Resources in collaboration with the School of Health Sciences.
NOTE: Lunch orders will be accepted until 5 p.m. on November 29, 2013. A deadline is needed for food services to prepare ordered lunches. The cost for lunch is $7. You may bring your lunch if you prefer.
