Classes: Grades K-3

As they grow, children need to stretch their imaginations. Did you know that between the ages of 6 and 8 your child‘s physical, social, and mental skills are developing at a wildfire pace? Our classes are designed to cultivate this stage of the childhood experience: The strengthening sense of self and community. We will also provide practice at developing skills in cooperation and listening.

Winter 8-week session begins on Monday, January 5, 2015 and concludes on Sunday, March 1st, 2015

Acting 101 - AP.1 (Grades 1-3) - 1/9/2015 4:30 PM - 2/27/2015 5:30 PM
One of the most important classes a young performer can take! Journey with ATMTC through the process of acting: a professional teaching artist will guide participants using creative drama techniques through the basics of acting, improvisation, and character development. The class culminates in an informal presentation of the characters and stories the class created during the semester. No pre-requisite is required.
Broadway Prep - AP.2 (Grades 1-3) - 1/8/2015 5:30 PM - 2/26/2015 6:30 PM
Broadway Prep, the second-level continuation course of Sing, Dance, Act!, delves further into the craft of musical theater performance by teaching students to convey emotion and character in song, scene and movement. Working on developing these skills individually and as an ensemble, students will learn to analyze scripts and songs for performance, learn correct terminology, and illustrate an understanding of musical theater basics. Pre-requisite of Sing, Dance, Act! is required, or by instructor permission.
Broadway Prep - AP.2 (Grades 1-3) - 1/10/2015 10:00 AM - 2/28/2015 11:00 AM

Mini-Play: Robin Hood - AP.1 (Grades 1-3) - 1/7/2015 5:30 PM - 2/25/2015 6:40 PM
No audition required This class culminates in an informal performance that is guided by literature and created by our students. Participants will join Robin Hood and his merry men on a journey through Sherwood Forest as they explore the story, its characters, plot line and sequence; working together to create their own improvised theater piece!

Singing for the Stage - AP.1 (Grades K-3) - 1/6/2015 4:30 PM - 2/24/2015 5:30 PM
This introductory vocal course teaches young students the fundamentals of healthy singing and musicianship. Through vocal exercises and musical theater songs, students will work on tone production, breath support, and basic music theory.
