The Michigan State Board of Education has identified as a priority, “Increasing the use of personalized teaching methods, including the integration of technology for K-14 students to improve learning and outcomes.”
The Personalized Learning Conference will be held at Kent ISD on May 7, 2019. All educators who want to learn more about personalized teaching and learning are welcome and encouraged to attend.
The goal of this conference is to build awareness and understanding of how to personalize teaching and learning for the purpose of increasing student learning outcomes. This includes a focus on implementation through mastery learning and system-alignment.

Dr. Dave Richards is the former Superintendent of Fraser Public Schools and President of Core2Edge, LLC. Dave is also the Co-Founder and Lead Strategist of SafeScan Solutions, LLC., (www.safescansolutions.com). Fraser is a school district of over 5,000 students located in Macomb County, Michigan. The District is one of the largest 1:1 initiatives in the Great Lakes Region with students in grades PreK-12 equipped on a 1:1 basis. Students in grades PreK-2nd grade are provided with iPad classroom sets, grades 3-8 have 24x7 access to an iPad, and students in grades 9-12 utilize a MacBook on a 1:1 basis to enhance their personalized learning experience. Dave is a Past-Board Member for the Tri-County Alliance and the Galileo Consortium for Teacher Leaders. Before being named Superintendent in 2010, Dave was the Principal of Fraser High School since 2005. Prior to joining Fraser, Dave spent 10 years with the Rochester Community Schools, as the Director of Educational Technology and Information Systems. While serving in this capacity, Dave was an elected member of the Consortium for School Networking Board, the Dell Computer Advisory Council, and served as the Chair of the Compaq Computer National Education Advisory Council. Previous to his work in Rochester, Dave was a classroom teacher and computer coordinator for Belding Area Schools.
