Training in CHAMPS will help teachers:
- Improve student behavior
- Establish clear behavior expectations
- Establish logical and fair responses to misbehavior
- Motivate students and improve engagement
- Spend less time disciplining and more time teaching
- Teach students to behave respectfully
- Improve educational equity within the classroom

Teachers will learn how to:
- Establish a vision for their classrooms
- Organize classrooms for student success
- Prepare for the first month of school
- Specify classroom behavioral expectations
- Motivate even the most uncooperative students
- Monitor and revise classroom behavioral plans
- Correct specific misbehaviors
- Includes specific strategies for Elementary, Middle School, and High School classrooms

John Mudie; Kirsten Rice

John Mudie, Kent ISD MTSS Coordinator, came to us from Montcalm Area ISD, where he worked as a Teacher Consultant and MTSS Coordinator. He is passionate about supporting districts in the implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), coaching and training staff in effective classroom management techniques, and utilizing data-based decision-making. John is a trainer of Classroom PBIS, the CHAMPS Classroom Management Approach, the Tough Kid Tool Box behavior strategies, and is an Acadience Mentor.
