Course Description

*Due to grant funding this conference is only open to Kent ISD Area Educators.

The ASD Conference: Hands on Learning for General and Special Educators is a unique conference that will provide teachers and related service providers from around Kent County, with a hands on opportunity to learn useful evidence based practices and strategies for promoting success and engagement for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, in the general education.


Interactive experiences will allow general and special educators to learn, create, and become better prepared for teaching students with ASD. A few lucky participants will walk away from EACH session with valuable tools that can be taken back to the classroom for immediate use with students with ASD.

*Video Modeling
*Peer-to-Peer Supports for Elementary and Secondary Schools
*Core Vocabulary Instruction Using AAC

*Using Picture Exchange in the Classroom

Co-sponsored by Kent KISD and Kent Collaborative Autism Network (Kent CAN) a part of the Statewide Autism Resources & Training (START) program through Grand Valley State University.


Presenter

Keynote speaker, Anthony Ianni, is a former MSU graduate and basketball player who was diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder at the age of 4. Anthony has devoted himself to touching the lives of others who face the same challenges that he did throughout school. His story is truly inspiring!
