Morehead Planetarium and Science Center

Morehead’s annual Stemville Science Symposium is a one day science conference for 4th-7th graders that will be held on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's campus at Morehead Planetarium and Science Center. The conference will feature a light breakfast reception in the Rotunda, a keynote address in the GSK Fulldome Theater, and breakout science enrichment and learning sessions facilitated by researchers from UNC. The morning will be filled with local high school volunteers assisting the conference participants. Sessions will be led by local STEM professionals, including undergraduate and graduate students at UNC Chapel Hill. Some of the session leaders are listed as IMPACTors, individuals participating in a science communication program facilitated by Morehead. Presenters listed as Science Ambassadors have completed this program.

The conference participants are expected to be a reflection of the underserved and underrepresented groups in STEM education with a target focus on rural and urban communities of lower socioeconomic status, Latinos, women, and African-Americans; however, ALL are welcome to attend.

The STEMville Science Symposium is part of the North Carolina Science Festival, a multi-day celebration of science that takes place all over the state of North Carolina from April 7-23. For more information and more events in your area please visit the North Carolina Science Festival's website!
