This training explores the important and critical role of paraprofessionals in our elementary schools. Bobbi Jo Sammons and Jennifer Norris share pertinent information regarding the role of a paraprofessional in the school. Morning topics will include confidentiality, use of social media, legal guidelines, and developing a positive relationship with colleagues. Afternoon topics will focus on small group instructional strategies for reading, math and intervention.

Bobbi Jo Sammons has been an educator for more than 25 years. After nearly 20 years in the classroom, Bobbi Jo changed roles to become an Instructional Coach. Currently, she provides comprehensive training and support to instructional assistants involved in intervention and ELL services for primary age children.
Jennifer Norris has been an educator since 1998. She is currently the principal of Rensselaer Central Primary School. Prior to her role as lead learner, Jennifer has served students as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and assistant principal. She has an educational background in The Literacy Collaborative, Reading First, Title I and Title III.

WVEC CANCELLATION POLICY:
* Registrants who notify WVEC of their cancellation on or before the registration deadline date will not be required to pay the registration fee.
* Registrants who cancel after the registration deadline but before the workshop date or call to cancel on the day of the workshop will pay 50% of the registration fee.
* Registrants who neglect to call or notify the WVEC of their cancellation will be responsible for paying the full fee.
* On official school corporation weather-related cancellation days, registrants will not be required to pay registration fees.
*Cost of all workshops are based on membership in an Indiana ESC. Any registrants who are not members of an ESC in the state of Indiana will be required to pay the non-member fee of twice the amount of the workshop cost.
