*Classroom Management: The Beginning, Middle, and End of Developing and Maintaining Classroom Management for Your Individual Needs

We teachers tend to be creatures of habit. When something we try, FINALLY works, we want to stick with it! After all, if it’s not broke, don’t fix it, right? Well, unfortunately, “it” may be broke, and we don’t know it. In this session, we will discuss the who, what, when, where and how of classroom management. There is such a thing as, “One Size Fits Most,” but not, “One Size Fits All,” and we will learn how to address the kids who don’t fit it the box.

Amanda Rinehart - For 15 years, Amanda has been an educator in urban settings. She taught 5th, 4th, 2nd and Over/Under (over aged students who were underachieving) in two schools with Indianapolis Public Schools. During that time, Amanda obtained a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Administration and in Applied Behavioral Analysis with a focus on autism, and now holds a Building Level Administrator license. After leaving the classroom, Amanda became the Building Options Coordinator for IPS where she developed academic and behavioral plans for individual schools, helping them to have higher achievement and allowing students to stay in the school building in lieu of suspension or expulsion. She was also responsible for data collection and analysis and reporting for the district for the Alternative Education Department. In this role, she also oversaw the elementary alternative school, providing them with data driven procedures and strategies to implement for students to return to their boundary schools and be successful. Amanda, then, became the middle and high alternative school interim principal. She was successful in implementing strategies for academic growth and development, as well as, behavior modification and management. In her last position, Amanda was the Assistant Principal in a charter school in Indianapolis.
