Instructional Coaching - Becoming the BEST Support for Your Teachers!

This full day workshop is perfectly designed for instructional coaches of all grade levels and content areas.  We will begin with a big picture approach and examine the fundamental areas of coaching, from questioning and relationship building to the nuts and bolts of specific ways to become a vital resource to your teachers. This session will provide a resource book to use as a functional tool as your work with teachers progresses to make continual progress and differentiate your approach.

Objectives:

  • Questioning with teachers:  Learn the 6 best questioning techniques to use with teachers as an instructional coach.  We will practice the key words questioning designs that will allow you to empower teachers to solve their own problems.
  • Professional development and PLC structures provided:  Practice and prioritize 21 learning modules that you can easily implement with your professional development and/or PLC meetings to guide teachers into more rigorous instruction.
  • Experience data-supported approach to growth.  Coaches will be presented with 3-year data collections to support “6 Key Instructional Changes that Lead to Sustained Growth.”  You will be able to collaborate during the workshop to design how you can best incorporate the 6 with your current staff.
  • Each participant will receive a copy of “Diving In to Strategic Thinking:  A Depth of Knowledge Field Guide”

Presenting

Sandra Adams received her degree in Curriculum and Staff Development from Bowling Green State University and has worked for the Ohio Department of Education. In addition, she has worked with Wright State University as a presenter, instructor, and speaker. Sandra now works as an educational coach and consultant with Catalyst Learning Community to provide standards-based professional development focusing on building solid student-teacher relationships that foster engagement and gains in student achievement.

Cancellation Policy

WVEC CANCELLATION POLICY:
* Registrants who notify WVEC of their cancellation on or before the registration deadline date will not be required to pay the registration fee.
* Registrants who cancel after the registration deadline but before the workshop date or call to cancel on the day of the workshop will pay 50% of the registration fee.
* Registrants who neglect to call or notify the WVEC of their cancellation will be responsible for paying the full fee.
* On official school corporation weather-related cancellation days, registrants will not be required to pay registration fees.

*Cost of all workshops are based on membership in an Indiana ESC. Any registrants who are not members of an ESC in the state of Indiana will be required to pay the non-member fee of twice the amount of the workshop cost.
