Join Tanny McGregor for a practical, joy-filled look at comprehension! In this workshop, we'll explore the why and the how of teaching readers to make meaning of text. Through realia, art, music and movement, our students can notice and name comprehension strategies, and move from the concrete to the abstract. Let's spend the day together viewing comprehension through new lenses and adding new lessons to our instructional repertoire. Bonus: The afternoon will emphasize the power of visual literacy in comprehension, and include a 'micro-session' about visual note-taking (aka sketch-noting) for deeper comprehension across grade levels and content areas! This workshop is ideal for K-8 classroom teachers, instructional coaches, reading specialists, curriculum supervisors, and principals.
