Teachers will discuss, work and given many resources for “Mathematically Rich Problems” also called “Low Floor/High Ceiling Problems”. The specific requirements of what makes problems Mathematically Rich along with the techniques for finding, teaching, and students solving Mathematically Rich Problems will be discussed and modeled. This will be a very hands on workshop for teachers where they will be participating and solving many Mathematically Rich Problems. Presented by Bill Reed.
Bill Reed is the Regional Director for Central Indiana GEAR UP schools specializing in Mathematics. He works with Central Indiana GEAR UP schools, teachers, and students. He assists students with tutoring and S.T.E.M. educational opportunities. He assists schools and teachers observing and giving feedback on educational prodigy, helping with mathematics instruction, and giving teacher professional development. Prior to working with Indiana GEAR UP Bill was a Secondary Math Teacher for over 31 year until he retired. He then worked for the Indiana Department of Education as the Secondary Math and S.T.E.M. Specialist since 2013.

*Cost of all workshops are based on membership in an Indiana ESC. Any registrants who are not members of an ESC in the state of Indiana will be required to pay the non-member fee of twice the amount of the workshop cost.

* Registrants who notify WVEC of their cancellation on or before the registration deadline date will not be required to pay the registration fee.
* Registrants who cancel after the registration deadline but before the workshop date or call to cancel on the day of the workshop will pay 50% of the registration fee.
* Registrants who neglect to call or notify the WVEC of their cancellation will be responsible for paying the full fee.
* On official school corporation weather-related cancellation days, registrants will not be required to pay registration fees.
