Early Autumn at Mason Farm

An in-depth tour of Mason Farm Biological Reserve's Old Farm Trail that travels through some 260 years of cultural and natural history. Explore the beauty of fall, and learn about the Garden's intense management of both field and forest on the Reserve. The walk includes a short hike off-trail into the Shagbark Hickory Forest. 

 

Wear sturdy hiking footwear and bring a walking stick, insect repellant and water.  Meeting spot supplied upon registration.

About the Instructor

Ed Harrison earned a Master’s Degree in Environmental Management from Duke, with concentrations in environmental impact analysis and in plant community ecology. He’s been an active member of the Penny’s Bend Nature Preserve Management Committee since 1998, leading the Spring and Fall public tours for the Garden since 1999. Ed began doing similar tours for Mason Farm Biological Reserve in 2007.
