Learn about the diverse spiders that call North Carolina home and what you can do to help! Take a trip across the state learning about the unique natural histories and habits of some of our arachnid friends. Learn what you can do to help habitats across the state and in your own backyard and even inside your home! We'll finish with an introduction to the North Carolina Biodiversity Project and the new Arachnids section.


About the Speaker

Brian Bockhahn was born in Niagara Falls, NY and attended the New York State Ranger School in the Adirondack Mountains. He has worked for North Carolina State Parks for 22 years studying and teaching about the state's biodiversity. Long interested in nature and the outdoors he is active with several monitoring programs for birds, herps, and insects including bio-blitzes across the state. He is now a full-fledged bug nerd and is taking lead on the new Arachnid database for the NC Biodiversity Project.
