Lauri will share ways to provide essential habitat elements like food, water, cover, and places to raise young while also creating beautiful, colorful gardens that appeal to various aesthetic preferences. Learn how to make your garden a mini nature preserve for birds, butterflies, and other pollinators and wildlife.

About the Instructor

Lauri Lawson is a horticulturist and ecological garden consultant in Chapel Hill, NC. Raised by biology-environmentalist professors, she has spent a lifetime literally in the field. She was horticulturist and retail manager at premier NC native plant nursery Niche Gardens for 14 years and garden supervisor at Juniper Level Botanic Gardens/Plant Delights Nursery. She has helped advise on the Chatham Market Pollinator Garden and the Gardens at the NC Museum of History and NC Museum of Natural Science in Raleigh. She lectures, teaches classes and leads nature walks for people of all ages. Her specialties are native plants, pollinator, bird and wildlife gardens using ecologically friendly techniques, as well as medicinal plants and healing gardens.
