Intermediate Expressive Watercolor

This course builds upon the knowledge and skills of Beginning Watercolor and provides instruction based on a fluid watercolor style combined with careful observation of plants. Learn techniques and methods to create form, values, details, textures as well as backgrounds.
Prerequisites: Beginning Watercolor, Intermediate Drawing.
Note: This class involves homework assignments. The amount of time students need to spend on homework varies and usually ranges from five to fifteen hours per week.
Kate Lagaly has earned Signature Artist status from the Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA and CPX), the Kentucky Watercolor Society (KWS), the Southern Watercolor Society (SW), the South Carolina Watermedia Society (SCWS), the Watercolor Society of North Carolina (WSNC), and the Tennessee Watercolor Society (TnWS). Her work has been juried into The American Watercolor Society’s International Exhibition and has been a finalist in the Paint America Top 100 National Exhibition. Two pieces have been finalists in The Artist Magazine’s Annual International Competition. She works mainly in acrylic, colored pencil, gouache, pen and ink, plasticine clay, scratchboard, and watercolor. She also enjoys the creative process and sculpture in her role as the Artistic Director for Concrete Architectural Products Precast (CAPP). She has an Art Degree from Xavier University.
