Methodist Health System employees who provide their employee ID number on the registration form may take this course at no cost. NMC students can attend at no cost (they do not receive CE). NMC Alumni and Perinatal Outreach receive 75% off of the program's value.


Nurses and other clinicians working with laboring women.


The purpose of this program is to provide a forum that increases knowledge related to nursing care and support of the laboring patient


Program Objectives:

  • Explore influences on birth practices
  • Identify primary hormones in pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding
  • Identify and utilize techniques for the non-pharmacologic support of a laboring woman
  • Discuss the various roles of support persons in childbirth


In order to receive continuing education hours for this event, you must meet the following completion requirements:

  • Attendance at the entire activity
  • Completion/submission of evaluation form

Continuing Education

Nurses: 6.0 contact hours awarded. MW MSD Provider Approval #NE 1022-1. Nebraska Methodist College Professional Development is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the Midwest Multistate Division, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.


Education: 6.0 Education hours. Nebraska Methodist College Professional Development assigns education hours based on 60 minutes of classroom instruction for each offering.
