NMC Alumni who provide graduation year and last name at graduation may take this course at no cost. NMC students can attend at no cost but do not receive CE. Perinatal Outreach receive 75% off of the program's value.

Newer nurses and healthcare professionals who work with postpartum women.


Details

The purpose of this course is to lay the foundation for new nurses to best support breastfeeding mothers and promote a successful breastfeeding experience. Topics include breastfeeding benefits, contraindications, the focus of care after delivery, the ideal breastfeeding process, and overcoming breastfeeding concerns

 

Program Objectives:

  • Discuss the importance of maternal self-efficacy on breastfeeding success.
  • Describe maternal and infant benefits of breastfeeding.
  • Identify the hormones involved with breastfeeding and the composition of breastmilk.
  • Demonstrate effective hand expression skills.
  • Evaluate infant latch and maternal positioning techniques.
  • Identify common breastfeeding concerns and solutions.

 

In order to receive continuing education hours for this event, you must meet the following completion requirements:

  • Attendance at the entire activity
