Access and privacy legislation isn’t scary if you understand the basics.
Queen’s University is subject to Ontario’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) which requires us to provide public access to our records, and regulates how we collect, use, and disclose personal information of students and other community members. We are also subject to the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), not to mention Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This session will provide employees with the basics of access and privacy in the workplace so they can feel confident that they are managing records and information responsibly and in a privacy-protective manner.
