Details

In this webinar, Kim will discuss and show ways to support the needs of exceptional children and their reading progress during remote, online learning, and throughout the summer months. She will share information on reading disabilities, provide ideas and strategies to support the progress of struggling readers, and share valuable resources to help parents navigate continuous learning over the summer months.

Presenter: Kim Lockhart (OCT, BA, B.Ed, M.Ed)) is an elementary French Immersion and Special Education teacher in the Limestone District School Board with nineteen years of teaching experience. Over the years, Kim has seen many children struggle to read and has questioned how typical classroom reading practices can meet the learning needs of all students, especially those with reading disabilities, such as Dyslexia. Eager to make change and improvements in her own teaching practice, Kim began a career-changing journey to explore science-based, reading instruction programs, including the Orton-Gillingham (OG) and Multi-Sensory Structured Learning (MSSL) literacy approaches. Kim now embraces Structured Literacy in her own classroom practice and is committed to educating and supporting parents and other educators across the province.
