Course Details

ABOUT: Coppell Life Safety Park is proud to offer free study trip opportunities for larger groups (up to 90 students)! Your visit to LSP will include an educational safety lesson, with topic determined by grade level, as well as hands-on time relevant to the safety topic.


REGISTRATION INFO: This registration slot is open to any DFW-area K-12 teacher, educator, or school administrator. Private/Charter schools, daycares, and homeschools are also welcomed to register.

CHAPERONE TO STUDENT RATIO REQUIREMENTS:

Pre-K - 1 : 2

Kindergarten - 1 : 2

1st Grade - 1 : 4

2nd Grade - 1 : 6

3rd Grade - 1 : 4

4th Grade - 1 : 10

5th Grade - 1 : 10

6th Grade and up - 1 : 15

OTHER THINGS TO KNOW:

  • ISD parents/chaperones must check in at school first, and visibly wear the issued sticker badge
  • Non-ISD parents/chaparones must bring a valid government-issued photo ID
  • Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to class time for check-in
  • Students & chaperones must wear closed-toed shoes
  • Candid photos may be taken
  • Child siblings not allowed

Available Topics

LIFE SAFETY PARK TOPICS: Topics are set by grade level as follows:

Pre-K: Firefighter Show-and-Tell (1 hr class)

Kindergarten: Intro to 9-1-1 (w/ jeeps)**

1st Grade: Motor Vehicle and Pedestrian Safety (w/ jeeps)**

2nd Grade: Jr. Fire Academy: Fire and Burn Prevention

3rd Grade: Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety (w/ bikes)**

4th Grade: Severe Weather and Emergency Preparedness

5th Grade: General Home and Life Safety

6th - 8th Grade: Crash Course - Advanced Home and Life Safety

9th - 12th Grade: College Safety 101


Teachers will have the chance to specify grade level during the registration questionnaire.


**Notes Regarding Jeep/Bike Programs:

  • For safety, we do not allow jeeps or bikes to be operated in the rain. We will be in touch before your visit should the forecast look threatening.
  • Jeep/Bike driving time may be shortened to allow all students in larger groups/classes to be able to drive the jeeps/bikes.
  • Teacher and chaperone assistance in making activity group switches quick and efficient is extremely appreciated!
  • All jeep drivers must be between 40-50 inches tall to ensure proper seatbelt fitment.
  • All bike riders must be at least 40 inches tall to ride; Bike sizes may not be appropriate for all children and/or abilities.
