This course offers a basic knowledge of materials: How they are made, understanding the characteristics of materials, fabric structure, care, handling and storage. Learn fundamentals of fabric suitability in addition to sewing tips, reading patterns and preparing fabric for cutting and sewing process. Materials introduced and practiced on include but aren't limited to: Canvas, Leather, Fur, Vinyl, Lycra and other specialty materials. General industrial sewing machine maintenance and operation will be introduced and continually practiced.
