Henry J. Lucas is the owner of Lucas Counseling and Consulting. With a focus on trauma and addiction, he works with patients in one-on-one sessions, couples' sessions, and group sessions. A firm believer in the power of the creative process, in his practice he applies his knowledge and skills to help others resolve a variety of issues and maximize their full potential. Henry is author of best selling book, Maximize: 7 Mind-Shifts to Maximize Key Areas of Your Life. A licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor (LCADC) in the state of Kentucky, Henry lives in Louisville with his beautiful wife and daughter. Workshop Description

People with substance use disorders can be a challenging population to work with as therapists. Substance and non-substance use disorders effect a fair amount of the population. Therapist that aren’t familiar with addictive and the treatment process can feel insecure, overwhelmed and inadequate when working with this population. Because of the prevalence in the community, therapist that aren’t specialized in addiction treatment can have a profound impact in therapy. This workshop will have role playing opportunities and case conceptualizations that require interaction with instructor and audience.

-understand risk factors and basic neuroscience of addiction.

-have skills to engage client's into treatment/therapy.

-participants will understand assessing and diagnosing Substance Use Disorders.

-participants will understand holistic approach to therapy and recovery.
