Mr. William “Tony” Mathis attended Bellarmine University where he has an Undergraduate Degree in Sociology and a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Louisville's “Kent School of Social Work.” He has worked primarily in the field of mental health within diverse populations. Some of these to mention are returning offenders, the field of substance abuse, at risk youth, the Veteran population and clients with Co-Morbid Disorders and other Psychological Syndromes.

MMr. Mathis provides and coordinates clinical residential social work services for 3 nursing homes in the rural counties of Carroll, Trimble and Henry. He as well has given presentations on the Elderly and Trauma Informed Care and Treating the Psychosocial Concerns of the Elderly.


MMr. Mathis also conducts workshops for relevant topics and continuing education units for agencies, universities and is a professional presenter at conferences. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Louisville with 2 departments, is a subject matter expert in the field of addictions, the forensic population and domestic violence. He has professional licenses such as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Alcohol Drug Counselor(LCADC), DUI Assessor/Instructor and Batterers Intervention Provider(BIP).

Workshop Description

This course meets the requirements for KRS:194A.540 for Intimate Partner Violence and Elder Abuse.

We will review:

Dynamics of IPV and Elder Abuse, neglect and Exploitation
Effects of IPV and Elder Abuse, neglect and Exploitation
Inclusion of Child, Adult and Elder Victims
Legal remedies for Protection/ Reporting Requirements
Risk Assessment/ Preparation for Assistance
Treatment Modalities
Community Resources
