Workshop Description

The goal for the workshop is for participants to develop comprehensive knowledge of the core concepts and skills of Motivational interviewing and be able to demonstrate these skills and discuss applications to their practice setting. Content is appropriate for mental health professionals including, but not limited to, MFTs, Social Workers, and psychologists, and includes the professional application of theories and techniques in the delivery of services to individuals, couples, families, and beyond.


Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will…

  1. Know the theoretical foundations of MI
  2. Be able to articulate the four key principles of MI
  3. Be able to demonstrate interaction techniques and different types of reflections/traps
  4. Be able to articulate core change strategies for MI
