This workshop will provide Special Education Administrators with the knowledge and ability to apply and interpret the basics of school district finances, revenue sources, regulations for special education spending and reporting. In addition, participants will learn tools to foster better communication between special education services and the business office in order to maximize supports and resources for students with special needs. Participants should come prepared with their district's most recent adopted Budget and Annual Financial Report.

Presenter(s)


Melissa Geyman is the Director of Business Services and Transportation at North Boone School District.   Prior to this position, she worked as a Director of Special Education for five years at North Boone.      Melissa has worked as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired for a special education cooperative as well as with a district not associated with a cooperative organization.   Melissa is the Chair of the Special Education: Administration & Finance Professional Development Committee for IASBO.  

 



Sarah Lager is the Director of Fiscal Services & Asset Management at Barrington CUSD 220.  Formerly she was the Director of Fiscal Services with the Cooperative Association for Special Education.  Sarah has experience in payroll, budgeting, state reporting, and grant management.  She served as the Chair for the IASBO Special Education Professional Development Committee for two years and is a faculty member of the IASBO Leadership Institute.  She has experience presenting on Creative Leadership, and Special Education Budgeting, Funding & Reporting.

Fees

Free of charge for CASE member districts and staff (Districts 15, 16, 41, 44, 87, 89, 93).
$200 for the training for all other registrants. Materials are included unless otherwise noted.

About Us

The Cooperative Association for Special Education (CASE) is a joint agreement between Marquardt School District 15, Queen Bee School District 16, Glen Ellyn School District 41, Lombard Elementary School District 44, Glenbard Township High School District 87, Community Consolidated School District 89 and Community Consolidated School District 93 in DuPage County. CASE provides varied supports so that each member district can offer a complete range of services to students with special needs between the ages of 3 and 22 years.
