ICAPE Make & Take Workshop

Coffee and morning pastries will be available.  If you have other dietary needs you can bring your own drinks or snacks but PLEASE NO NUTS or nut based products (in case of universal allergies).

Attendees are asked to bring the following:

  • 1 8X10 picture of a toy/object/event/sport that is motivating to a student in your classroom (can be color or black and white).
  • 1 pair of sharp scissors.
  • Large bag or plastic bin to bring home things that are made that day.
  • Sweater/sweatshirt if you think you might get cold; building is air-conditioned.

Teachers do not have control over the students they teach, but they do have control over setting up their environment. Learn how to organize your physical space and your daily schedule in the most effective manner possible; establish positive contacts with your students’ families; set long-range academic and behavioral goals for your students; define and teach behavioral expectations; set and teach classroom rules and routines; use behavior management principles effectively; conduct yourself as a professional; increase student motivation; and correct misbehavior.


The Illinois Coalition for Adapted Physical Education (ICAPE) including Tara McCarthy, Kathy Brinker, Karen Puckett, Cathy Holbrook, Emma Degan and Mae Flavin. This event is being sponsored by the Cooperative Association for Special Education (CASE).


$30.00 for the training for each attendee. Materials are included unless otherwise noted.

About Us

The Cooperative Association for Special Education (CASE) is a joint agreement between Marquardt School District 15, Queen Bee School District 16, Glen Ellyn School District 41, Lombard Elementary School District 44, Glenbard Township High School District 87, Community Consolidated School District 89 and Community Consolidated School District 93 in DuPage County. CASE provides varied supports so that each member district can offer a complete range of services to students with special needs between the ages of 3 and 22 years.
