Based on the participation in our survey last year, there were many questions regarding implementation of AAC. So come discuss all things regarding AAC Implementation on November 3rd at 2:00. This meeting will be a share out meeting! Everyone bring your resources from favorite websites, social media accounts, podcasts, AAC ambassadors, experts, etc... We will discuss Participation Barriers, Communication Autonomy, Honoring Communication, and Prompting as well.

Presenter(s)


Kim is an Instructional Support Team Coach, Assistive Technology Facilitator and Speech-Language Pathologist who has been with case for 7 years.  She has been a SLP for 14 years.



Sherri Maupin-Szweda, MOT, OTR/L, ATP is an assistive technology facilitator and occupational therapist. She has worked for CASE for 16 years and is a coach on CASE's Instructional Support Team. Sherri maintains licensure as a Registered Occupational Therapist, National Board Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT), membership in the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and is a certified Assistive Technology Professional through the Rehabilitation, Engineering, and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA). Sherri has worked in the public school setting as well as in acute and sub-acute rehabilitation settings, as a home health professional, and as an adjunct professor at a local university.

Fees

Free of charge for CASE member districts and staff (Districts 15, 16, 41, 44, 87, 89, 93).
$100 for the training for all other registrants. Materials are included unless otherwise noted.

About Us

The Cooperative Association for Special Education (CASE) is a joint agreement between Marquardt School District 15, Queen Bee School District 16, Glen Ellyn School District 41, Lombard Elementary School District 44, Glenbard Township High School District 87, Community Consolidated School District 89 and Community Consolidated School District 93 in DuPage County. CASE provides varied supports so that each member district can offer a complete range of services to students with special needs between the ages of 3 and 22 years.
