Timothy Donley, DDS, MSD is currently in the private practice of Periodontics and Implantology in Bowling Green, KY. Dr. Donley is a sought-after speaker whose courses are always highly rated. His forte lies in taking the latest research and packaging it in a way that makes sense. He is a lecturer with the ADA Seminar Series and has lectured world-wide. Dentistry Today recently listed him among its Leaders in Continuing Education. He lectures and publishes frequently on topics of interest to clinical dentists and hygienists.

Continuing Education

The CE Program will occur 8:00 AM - 11:15 AM on Friday, October 14, 2016 and Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Wintergreen Resort. Each presentation is 3.00 CEUs.

Day 1: Friday, October 14th

Presentation Title: Perio Patient Information Management: The Science, Forms and Motivation to Improve Patient Outcomes and Practice Incomes

Presentation Description:
The preferred risk-based approach to periodontics means that there are patients who are more likely to get periodontal disease and those in whom it is more important to prevent it. This presentation will give you the knowledge and materials to identify, educate, motivate and treat these patients most effectively.

Educational Objectives: Upon completion of the presentation, participants should be able to:
• Fully understand the role inflammation plays in oral and overall health.
• Learn the new message of dentistry which can more effective educate and motivate patients.
• Develop a risk-based diagnostic protocol that works.
• Develop in-office materials to better educate and motivate patients.
• Develop a strategy to stay current with evolving research concerning oral/overall health links.



Day 2: Saturday, October 15th

Presentation Title: The Language of Medicine for Dental Professionals: How to Talk Confidently with Your Medical Colleagues About the Oral Systemic Link

Presentation Description:
When it comes to the links between oral and overall health, everyone says collaboration with medicine is important. But, no one explains what that means. Until now! This presentation is intended to get dental professionals caught up on the language of medicine.

Educational Objectives: Upon completion of the presentation, participants should be able to:
• Fully understand the inflammatory link between oral and overall health.
• Learn an efficient diagnostic system for identifying patients with systemic health concerns.
• Master the medicine knowledge necessary to collaborate with medical colleagues.
• Learn which lab test to order for patients and how to interpret the results.
• Develop a practice management protocol to use the oral/systemic link to increase case acceptance and to increase referrals from medicine.



VCU School of Dentistry is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry. VCU School of Dentistry designates this activity for a total of 6.00 continuing education credits.

Friday's activities include three hours of continuing education with Dr. Donley, lunch and a wine tour to local wineries. Saturday begins with breakfast, three hours with Dr. Donley, free time in the afternoon and an evening reception. Watching a Polo Match at the King Family Vineyards on Sunday afternoon is optional.

Cancellations and Refunds

The Office of Continuing Education reserves the right to end registration when the enrollment limit is reached and to cancel, modify or alter content, faculty or location for any course if circumstances indicate such a change is advisable. If the Office of Continuing Education finds it necessary to cancel a course, a full refund will be issued. No travel expenses will be refunded to the registrant in the event of course cancellation or cancellation of any registration.

Full registration refunds are issued if the registrant cancels in writing two weeks prior to a course. Cancellations processed during the two weeks prior to course date will be refunded registration minus a late cancellation fee of $75. No refunds will be issued for cancellations received three days prior to the day of the course or in the event of a no-show. Select courses may have individually specific cancellation fees and polices. These policies will be listed in the print materials (brochures, fliers, etc.) and on the individual course Web page.

A $50 fee will be assessed for all returned payments. Returned payments include returned checks and dishonored credit or debit card payments.
