Saturday, January 19:

A Transformative Conversation on Race Relations

 

Join us for a morning of crucial conversations about racism and how we can go beyond 'helping' to truly transforming ourselves and our community with guest speakers Debby Irving and Marvin Daniels. 8:30-12:00, Refreshments will be provided.



 


Monday, January 21:

MLK Serve Day

 

Register in advance to save a spot.

We will meet at the church briefly at 8:45am for a short orientation and prayer, and then head out to our serve sites.

 

Current opportunities:

 

  • Adelante Thrift Store - sort donations in the warehouse of a vibrant hub of support for Kansas City's immigrant and refugee population.
  • Avenue of Life - do behind-the-scenes prep in either of the locations of this equipping center which helps our low income neighbors in both KCK and KCMO in many ways.
  • Children's Book Drive - Pick up book donations around the metro area for our Children's Book Drive.
  • Crosslines - sort and arrange displays of kitchen and other household items at the Crosslines Thrift Store in KCK.
  • Flourish Furnishings - work on one of several behind-the-scenes tasks with Resurrection's furnishings ministry to ensure that no family has to live without adequate home essentials.
  • Hope Faith Ministries: work on a light construction project, or clean and organize the barber shop and clothing areas.
  • Kansas City Community Kitchen: Serve a meal at the Kansas City Community Kitchen, a restaurant-style soup kitchen where guests are served with dignity and respect.
  • Kansas City Rescue Mission - work on a variety of cleaning and organizing projects to help this Christ-centered shelter prepare for the new year.
