Employees typically want to do a good job, have a good relationship with their manager and want to be successful or a 'winner'. Bring out the best in your employees through these three intentional and continuous conversations:


• Expectations conversations: Create shared expectations of employee responsibilities with established standards of what 'good' looks like. Articulate how their performance will be recorded and measured through the EPMS-Planning Stage process. This is the employee's roadmap to success and should guide their daily priorities and track progress toward their goals.


• Coaching conversations: Learn how to move from directive (telling) conversations to coaching (teaching) conversations. Inspire and empower employees to find their own solutions by asking powerful questions through the GROW coaching model. These conversations help expand and develop employees' skills and instill pride in employees as they master new skills (“win”).


• Feedback conversations: Learn how to follow up with meaningful, timely, and specific feedback about employee behaviors and actions. These ongoing conversations help employees understand if they are on track and if they need to course correct or keep going. Supervisors show that they care by telling people what they need to hear – good or bad.


Who Should Particpate?

Prerequisite Required. This course is required for University supervisors of staff, per HR Policy 1.51. Non-Supervisors will automatically be removed from the course.

Registration Instructions

There is no charge to participate in this course. Employees should cancel their registration if they are unable to particiapte. Participants leaving early, during certificate courses, will not receive credit for attending. If there is an emergency, please notify the instructor.
