As you prepare for a new semester, don’t let Blackboard get the best of you! Let us show you some tips and tricks to help you get off on the right foot. We will also cover best practices for using Blackboard as a teaching tool, who to contact for help, and how to access our Knowledge Base. Workshop participants are welcome to bring a computer or tablet to gain first-hand experience during this workshop.

Originally from Michigan, Katie completed her BA in English at USC in 2009 and has worked with the Division of IT ever since. With a background in customer service, she enjoys working with instructors and students as they navigate Blackboard and other e-Learning technologies.



Michael (Mike) Brown
Information Resource Consultant

Teaching and Technology Services
Department of Information Technology

Mike Brown has over thirty years of experience in working with educational technology. From the private sector to K-12 schools, to higher education, he has developed and conducted training for end-users and instructors in a variety of operating platforms, equipment, and software systems. At the University of South Carolina he has provided assistance to faculty and students as an end-user support specialist, instructional designer, educational technology administrator, and trainer. Mike is currently with the Department of IT’s Teaching and Technology Services.
