** Registration Procedures Update **

In order for attendees to personally track their current registrations and attendance at certificate of completion workshops and events, the Center for Teaching Excellence is now requiring that all registrants create an account in our registration system and login to register for all workshops.


If you have an existing training account with the Division of Human Resources, Office of Organizational and Professional Development, you do not need to create an account. You can login using your HR training username and password. By logging in to register for CTE events, your complete training record for both CTE and HR trainings will be available with a single account and login.


Casey Carroll
Instructional Designer
Center for Teaching Excellence

Casey Carroll is an instructional designer with the Center for Teaching Excellence at USC. Casey works with all who teach to support the creation of innovative and accessible courses and the continued development of teaching skills. He also works with instructors teaching online to help with course design and learning technologies. Prior to joining CTE, Casey designed curriculum for professional training and leadership development. He has also taught First-Year English and English as a Second Language at the University of South Carolina. Casey holds a master’s degree in linguistics from USC and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and psychology from Pacific Lutheran University. He also holds the Associate Professional in Talent Development credential from the Association for Talent Development.

Mary Hutto Hahn
Instructional Developer
Center for Teaching Excellence


Mary Hutto Hahn is an Instructional Design Assistant in the UofSC Center for Teaching Excellence. She currently works with faculty in online course design and development. In addition, she is working with the COLT (Carolina Online Learning & Teaching) Certificate of Completion offered through the CTE. Hutto Hahn has earned the CTE’s Certificates of Completion in the following areas: Fostering Proactive Learning Environments, Integrative and Experiential Learning, and Teaching Towards Inclusive Excellence. She holds a PhD in Higher Education Leadership and Policy and an MBA from the University of South Carolina. Prior to joining the CTE, she was a faculty member teaching both online and face-to-face courses for over 25 years. Her research interests include online course design and implementation and the factors that influence the academic pathways of female non-traditional students.
