Jack R. Winston, DDS Professorship in Cosmetic & Restorative Dentistry

The professorship was established at the School of Dentistry in 1981 by the late Jack R. Winston, DDS class of 1943. Dr. Winston wanted to set a professional example by demonstrating the significance of continuing dental education. His personal credo was to help others by contributing his time, skills and resources. Offered to undergraduate dental students and faculty of the School of Dentistry, the lecture will emphasize the field of restorative dentistry. Nationally recognized speakers and distinguished practitioners have presented the lecture yearly since 1983.

About Our Speaker

Mollie Winston Barrow, DDS, grew up in a rural area on a farm outside of Tyler, Texas. She is the daughter of two schoolteachers, both of whom were from a long line of Texan families. She attended Texas A & M University (Class of 80) and obtained her dental degree from the University of Texas Dental School at Houston. She then completed a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Emory University.

Dr. Winston has been in the private practice of oral surgery since 1986 in Atlanta. Ga. She has a clinical faculty appointment at Augusta University Dental School in Augusta Georgia. Her practice has included the spectrum of oral and maxillofacial surgery but her subspecialty interest has long been in the area of dental implant surgery which she focused on from the beginning of her career. She has placed over 10,000 dental implants.

Dr. Winston is married to Dan Barrow, the Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at Emory University School of Medicine. They have three 3 children, Emily (32), Jack (30), and Tom (28) and one granddaughter, Adley (3). Dr. Winston has a small cattle operation on their farm outside Atlanta and enjoys many athletic activities.
