About Our Speaker

Maryam Tabrizi, RDH, DMD, MPH, attended St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia for her undergraduate studies in business management and accounting. Later she became interested in dentistry and, as a result, completed her studies in the dental hygiene program at Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia in 1987. Following her completion of the program, she immediately started dental school at the same institution and graduated in 1991. Shortly after graduating, Dr. Tabrizi, the mother of two daughters, started a private dental practice in 1992. In 2010, she decided to leave her private practice to pursue a lifelong dream to become an educator at Temple University School of Dentistry as a full-time faculty member in the department of restorative dentistry. In 2014, while working at Temple University, Dr. Tabrizi started studying public health, where she later earned a master’s degree. In May 2015, Dr. Tabrizi joined the faculty at The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston (UTSD).
