This course is a concise, evidence-based overview in nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation. A review of the properties, physiology, and administration of nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation will be presented.

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Appreciate the significance of nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation in dentistry
- Recognize the physical properties of nitrous oxide
- Discuss the pharmacokinetic properties (interactions within the body) of nitrous oxide
- Understand the steps for appropriate administration of nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation
60 Minute Review of Local Anesthesia Techniques Synopsis:
This course is a concise, evidence-based overview in modifications to specific local anesthesia techniques. A review in alternative administration of local anesthesia will be presented.
60 Minute Review of Local Anesthesia Techniques Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Review anatomy and target areas for better delivery of profound local anesthesia, with an emphasis in the inferior alveolar nerve block technique
- Describe specific modifications and reason for modifications in various injection techniques
- Restore confidence in the ability to successfully achieve profound local anesthesia

Lynne Morgan, RDH, MS, MA, is an adjunct dental hygiene faculty, division of Dental Hygiene and Division of Periodontology, teaches dental anatomy, local anesthesia, and nitrous oxide sedation to dental hygiene students and periodontal instrumentation to first- and second-year dental students. She is also involved in teaching local anesthesia and nitrous oxide sedation to practicing dental hygienists in a series of continuing education courses. Additional responsibilities include clinical dental hygiene instruction to second-year dental hygiene students, periodontal instrumentation to first- and second-year dental students, as well as clinical instruction to third- and fourth-year dental students. Her interests focus on curriculum and instructional design. She has received several teaching awards and is a committee member for Dental Hygiene Admissions. Ms. Morgan holds a Certificate in Dental Hygiene from Mott Community College, BS in Healthcare Administration from the University of Michigan-Flint, an MS in Health Education from the University of Michigan-Flint, and an MA in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Detroit Mercy. She joined the University in 2014.
