Real World Endo: New Dimensions in Endodontics

Dr. Lynne Brock received her Certificate in Endodontics from Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1993. She received her DDS degree in 1990 from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and thereafter was the Chief Resident at Richland Memorial Hospital in South Carolina from 1990 to 1991. She was an adjunct Clinical Faculty in the Department of Endodontics at Marquette University from 1991-1997. For 20 years she practiced Endodontics full-time in the Milwaukee area and is currently practicing part-time in Madison, Wisconsin. Dr. Brock is Past President of the Greater Milwaukee Dental Association and is an Elected Delegate for the Wisconsin Dental Association whereby she has served on many committees. She is President of Smile for a Lifetime Foundation, SE Wisconsin Chapter: a charitable non-profit organization serving underprivileged children. Dr. Brock is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and has been voted by her peers as one of the Top Endodontists in Milwaukee Magazine on multiple occasions. In the last 25 years she has received numerous awards and recognition for her accomplishments; most recently was her induction into the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an International Dental Honor Society. Dr. Brock is a Real World Endo Board Advisor and certified lecturer. She lectures extensively in clinical endodontics and is an avid instructor for hands-on techniques.

Dr. Brock receives financial/material support from Brasseler and Carestream Dental.

Course Description:

The lecture segment of this two part presentation will concentrate on two areas. 1) How to incorporate new material science, such as bioceramic technology into your practice and 2) How to perform root canal therapy in such a manner that you actually enhance the long-term prognosis of the tooth. The goal of this program is to have all dentists learn how to perform endodontics in such a manner that they can offer their patients a predictable long-term natural dentition option as an alternative to implants. Included in the lecture component will be a thorough discussion concerning access, non-surgical ultrasonic use, instrumentation techniques, and a new bioceramic obturation method. Particular emphasis will be placed on developing endodontic synchronicity between a machined preparation and a laser verified master bioceramic coated cone. Additionally, a new obturation technique (Synchronized Hydraulic Condensation) will be introduced and all participants will have the opportunity to validate these concepts during the hands-on session.

The hands-on session will provide participants the opportunity to use “Real World Endo” techniques and to witness first-hand, how they will change the way they practice endodontics. The hands-on session will be conducted using either accessed teeth (the preferred method) or blocks. In addition to instrumentation techniques, a demonstration will be done showing how to perform “synchronized hydraulic condensation.” Time will also be dedicated to “Preventing the Separation of Rotary Files” and the use of piezo electric ultrasonics will be available at all times. For the ultimate Real World Experience, attendees are encouraged to bring two to four accessed, extracted teeth. NOTE: In order to participate in this hands-on session, it is necessary to complete the lecture program.

Course Objectives:

At the conclusion of this course the participant should be able to:

  • Know how endodontics can be precision-based.
  • Understand the importance of preserving coronal radicular dentin.
  • Know the multiple benefits of developing 'endondontic synchronicity' between a machined preparation and a master cone.
  • Know the multiple advantages of performing a constant .04 taper preparation.
  • Understand the new 'synchronized hydraulic condensation' technique featuring the use of bioceramic technology.
  • Know how the use of bioceramics can improve your surgical results.
  • Understand how to perform endodontics in such a manner that you do not compromise the long-term retention of the tooth. In fact, learn how to do endodontics so that you actually enhance the long-term prognosis of the tooth.

MUSOD & Saber Dental Studio would like to thank Brasseler USA and Carestream Dental for their support for this program.
