Strategic human resources management (SHRM) is the integration of human resources management (HRM) with the strategic mission of the organization. It adapts human resources policies and practices to meet the challenges that building departments face today, as well as those they will face in the future. Human resources management within these departments must take a proactive role in guiding and supporting agency efforts to meet the changing demands of their external and internal environments. This class will illustrate the current knowledge, HRM practices, and legal, social, economic, and technological environment in which public and nonprofit organizations operate in.
