 Workshop Description:

This workshop will cover ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS by identifying ethical dilemmas, ethical considerations for each age group, confidentiality, informed consent, communication issues, documentation, and steps for successfully resolving ethical dilemmas. The second portion of this workshop will address CULTURAL COMPETENCY and effectively identify culturally related dilemmas and how to apply accepted set of decision-making steps for successful resolution.

Presenter: Ruth Lipschutz, LCSW, ACSW

Ruth Lipschutz, LCSW, ACSW, is a licensed clinical social worker with postgraduate certification in ethics, mediation, Transformational Imagery (trainer level), hypnotherapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Thought Field Therapy (TFT). She received her MSW from the University of Illinois in 1978 and went on to complete the two-year postgraduate training program of the Institute for Family Studies at Northwestern University. She has extensive experience in the areas of ethics, school social work, community mental health, addictions, traumatology, program development and implementation, supervision, consultation and Alternative Dispute Resolution. She has worked in English and Spanish with individuals, couples, families and groups in school, community and hospital settings. Ruth has presented workshops locally and nationally for over twenty years. She has served as the chairperson of NASW's National Ethics Committee and serves as a panelist, consultant, mediator and trainer for the NASW Illinois Chapter Ethics Committee. She is currently in private practice.


Credits: 6 PD hours will be offered to teachers and Social Workers will receive 3 ethics CEUs and 3 cultural competency CEUs (6 CEUs total) which fulfill requirements for licensure renewal in Illinois. 

All courses offered through the NASW-Illinois Chapter meet the continuing education qualifications for LSWs, LCSWs, LPCs, LCPCs, LMFTs, RNs, LPNs, APNs, LCPs, and PELs (formerly Type 73) licensed in Illinois as required by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) and the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).

Fee: $125.00 (10% discount if member of NASW IL) - Payment may be made by cash, check, or money order (payable to the Eisenhower Cooperative).
