Educating Powerful Writers: Middle School Writing - Grades 6-8 - BEGINNER Session (6 Sessions - 8/11, 8/12, 8/13, 8/18, 8/19, 8/20)

Tuesday, August 11, 2020
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Grades 6-8: We will continue to study writing practices employed in the new middle school writing curriculum, Educating Powerful Writers (grades 6-8). We will also start to explore how this curriculum works in a blended learning model. Each unit engages writers in daily writing as they build their language skills and knowledge. Teachers will have an opportunity to share best practices and those new to the curriculum will examine its features. We will also explore how the strategies and methodologies included in this curriculum help students meet the expectations of the Next Generation ELA Standards, are culturally responsive and support the ILF.
Intended Audience: This series is designed to support teachers from middle schools that have opted into the Core Curriculum option for Writing in grades 6-8. This is a six (6) session series.
