Grades K-5: Kylene Beers & Bob Probst bring their signature humor and literacy expertise to this session focusing deep reading. They will share innovative, cutting edge ways to incorporate their 'signposts' for reading comprehension into K-5 reading lessons. Participants will explore practical reading strategies to foster deep, meaningful interaction with texts and higher level thinking and discussion in elementary classrooms. The day will conclude with a reading and discussion by Crystal Allen who is most known for the popular The Magnificent Mya Tibbs series. She has also written How Lamar's Bad Prank Won a Bubba-Sized Trophy and The Laura Line. Participants will receive several of the author's books. Strategies taught in this session can support students in meeting the expectations of the Next Generation ELA Standards and support the ILF.
