Registration open through November 7.
Prospective students of Spalding University’s low-residency Master of Fine Arts in Writing program are invited to experience a half day of the fall residency and learn about the program, faculty, application requirements, and available financial aid at an open house that takes place 12:30–6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 12.
The Open House begins in the Mansion Complex West at 851. S. Fourth St. where guests observe a faculty-led workshop discussion of MFA students’ creative writing. The event continues with a talk by Program Director Sena Jeter Naslund on how to enhance the pleasure of reading by increasing one’s awareness of the art of fiction writing. Naslund, the bestselling author of Ahab’s Wife and Abundance: A Novel of Marie Antoinette, will reference modern short stories and her own novels during the hour-long talk, titled “Understanding Fiction through Critical Analysis.”
The lecture is followed by a reception where visitors can speak with faculty, alumni, and staff of the Top 10–ranked creative writing program. From 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., visitors are invited to a reading by prize-winning MFA faculty members.
The open house is free, but reservations are required. For complete information and to reserve your spot, complete the registration form (link above) by Tuesday, November 7.
