The registration period has closed for this event.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT use the back browser button during the registration process. Using the back browser button will cause your registration to file as “Incomplete” which could cost you an available slot in one of the programs.

Once you have selected your payment option at the end of the registration, the program will not allow you to “back-up” into your registration.

A separate registration MUST be completed for each student. Do NOT put multiple names on a registration. You must select the program you are registering for from the SMCPS website each time you register a student.

This session is for students entering grades 2-6

Dates: July 16 - 19, 2018

Location: Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Tuition: $100.00 per week

(Scholarships Available for students who qualify for free and reduced meals)

Camp sessions provide opportunities for students to participate in hands-on, minds-on activities in the areas of science, mathematics, technology, and engineering. Students will explore topics such as Aeronautics, Earth Science, Engineering, Rocketry, Space Citizenship, and Space Science through classroom activities.

  • Grade 2: Destination Space - Students learn about space and space citizenship in order to establish planetary colonies.
  • Grade 3: Playtime in Space - Students explore Newton’s Three Laws, then apply them to the development and marketing of a toy that can be played in space. They will also learn and apply computer coding basics.
  • Grade 4: Forces of Flight - Students learn about weight, lift, thrust, and drag, and apply them to various flying machines. They will also explore the basics of electrical circuits.
  • Grade 5: Physics of Flight - Students will apply principles of aerodynamics and basic coding when building, programming, and flying various aircraft.
  • Grade 6: Applications of Engineering - Students will apply coding to the design, build, and flight of model aircraft and other electronic devices.


A certified nurse will be on staff during operating hours.

Transportation is the responsibility of the parent/guardian.

Students will be required to bring a sack lunch and a drink.
