Join us for the annual Dental Hygiene Symposium at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry featuring Penny Hatzimanolakis on The Process of Care Model: ADPIE + Biofilm Managements = Guided Biofilm Therapy.

 

Would you prefer predictive outcomes in clinical practice? Is it important for you to provide preventive care, have the data to customize care and have your patients participate in their oral health? This evidence-based, full-day lecture focuses on the ADPIE process of care model and how to incorporate it within the guided biofilm therapy (GBT) modality in delivering predictive, preventive, personalized and participatory themes, which support the challenges in managing complex oral health conditions.

 

You Will Learn:

  • Assess: To understand the oral microbiome and the immunology concept of the symbiosis and dysbiosis relationship and to recognize the importance of risk assessments
  • Diagnosis: To utilize a new workflow resource for the 2018 AAP classification system
  • Plan: To create effective patient care plans, including implant maintenance
  • Implement: To integrate air-pressured technology and powders into clinical protocols
  • Evaluate: To make evidence-based decisions with air-pressured technologies, referrals and best practices

Presenters

Penny Hatzimanolakis, DHP(c), MSc, EdD(c), received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, Canada. She is currently a clinical associate professor at University of British Columbia where she has been an educator since 2002 in the graduate periodontics, undergraduate dental and dental hygiene programs. She has published and co-authored articles in multiple peer-reviewed journals. She also supports graduate research on periodontal and implant diseases and is a national and international speaker. As a clinician, she practices with a periodontics/prosthodontics specialty team in Vancouver, BC.
