Title: A Fundamental Review of the Head and Neck Anatomy as Pertinent to Clinical Diagnosis and Application.


Course description:

Topics of Head and Neck Anatomy that are of particular interest and fundamental to the daily practice of dentistry will be presented in a clinically applicable context facilitating an advanced knowledge of diagnosis, appreciation of anatomical complexities in detecting various sources of pain, understanding the significance of nerve pathways which deliver pain, and relevance of understanding anatomical structures to sound pathological diagnosis in the oromaxillofacial region. There will be 8 hours of in-person lecture and 2 hours of pre-cruise reading.


You Will Learn:

  1. Learning about basic anatomical relationships and landmarks which are key to accurate examination and evaluation of a dental patient.
  2. Explore and identify neurovascular pathways.
  3. Develop and improve your diagnostic clinical skills.
  4. Understand relevance of anatomical structures with specific diagnosis of various oral pathosis.

Homer Asadi, DDS, is an associate professor and serves as course director of the Advanced Head and Neck Anatomy course at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry.  He has been actively involved in academics, both lecturing and teaching dissection, for 20 years. He has been recognized and honored for Distinguished Merit in Teaching by dental students and maintains a private practice in San Jose, CA.
