University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry and University of California, San Francisco, School of Dentistry, invite you to join us for the 26th Annual Island Dental Colloquium. We are offering an outstanding educational opportunity featuring three excellent speakers. Course sessions run from 7:30 am – 11:30 am each day. Title: Endodontics for the General Practitioner

Dr. David C. Brown, BDS, MDS, MSD

You Will Learn:

  • How to make a correct diagnosis of the pulpal and periapical status
  • How to safely shape root canals
  • How to establish clean root canals
  • How best to restore the endodontically treated tooth


Title: Mastering Restorative Materials & Techniques

Dr. Jeff Brucia, DDS

You Will Learn:

  • The options available in adhesive systems including the new advancements in glass ionomers and light curing units
  • Techniques and material selection for direct restorations and how to work with deep inter-proximal extensions, near or direct pulp exposures
  • Techniques for the preparation, impressions, temporization, lab communication, material selection, and cementation of indirect restorations including margin elevation, fiber re-enforcement and when to seal the prep.


Title: Medically Complex Patients: What Dentists Want to Know

Dr. Linda Centore, PhD, NP

You Will Learn:

  • To identify key questions to assess patients to determine whether they are stable to treat
  • How to compare and contrast assessment strategies through peer to peer interaction
  • To apply knowledge to determine the need for a medical consult or modifications to treatment
  • To develop your medical history-taking skills for improved patient assessment

David C. Brown, BDS, MDS, MSD, is an associate clinical professor in the Department of Endodontics at the Dugoni School of Dentistry. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and also maintains a private endodontic practice in San Francisco, CA.

Jeff J. Brucia, DDS is a graduate of the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry where he is currently an Assistant Professor of Dental Practice.   He is practicing Esthetic and Restorative dentistry full time in San Francisco, California.  Dr. Brucia is the Co-Director of the FACE occlusion study club where he chairs the department of Esthetics and Adhesive Material Science. He is the 2011 recipient of the Gordon J. Christensen Recognition Lecturer Award.  In 2010, Dr. Brucia was elected a fellow in the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and presently serves as Academy Secretary. He has also been selected by Dentistry Today as one of the top clinicians in dental continuing education today.

Linda Centore, PhD, NP, is a clinical professor, licensed psychologist and board-certified primary care nurse practitioner at University of California, San Francisco, School of Dentistry. She teaches patient evaluation with oral surgery colleagues and provides med-psych consults to patients in the student dental clinic. In her private practice, she collaborates with physicians and dentists in co-treating patients with new or worsening health conditions to promote resilience, coping and improved quality of life.
