The TRIA Surgical Skills and Innovation Center is offering a 7-hour anatomy dissection course of the lower extremity for the Physical Therapist and Athletic Trainer on Saturday May 19th, 2018 from 7:30am-3:30pm. This course will utilize previous anatomical and clinical knowledge to identify musculoskeletal, vascular, and nervous anatomy of the distal mid-femur to toes. Additionally, attendees will be exposed to the surgical reconstruction of multiligament knee injuries. Each attendee will work within a group of three per donor specimen. The attendees will be given a brief introduction on the safe handling of donor tissue, instrumentation and dissection techniques. Prior to the course each attending will receive a course manual that will guide the learner through the day's dissection. CE credit with the BOC and MN board of PT is pending. Cost for this course is $450.00. Limited to 18 attendees.


This course is intended for the Physical Therapist and/or Athletic Trainer seeking an in-depth exposure to gross human anatomy of the distal lower extremity.


•Topographical anatomy, dermatomes & innervation.

•Dissection & exposure of the lower extremity from mid-femur to phalanges.
•Recognize the origin, insertion, innervation and function of each muscle.
•Comprehend the association between each joint and their function.
•Appreciate the anatomical affiliations between fascial planes.
•Understand the vascular anatomy, associated innervation and any present pathologies.
•Recognize the surgical reconstruction of a multiligament knee injury.
•The arthroscopic repair of an Anterior Cruciate Ligament/Posterior Cruciate Ligament.
•An open repair of the Medial Collateral Ligament/Lateral Collateral Ligament.
