Event Summary

 

The Washington State Cascadia Rising 2022 exercise is hosted by Washington Emergency Management Division and open to all Washington tribes/nations, state agencies, political subdivisions, emergency management agencies/organizations, local jurisdictions, non-governmental organizations, non-profit and volunteer organizations, the private sector, and federal partners.

 

 

 

The scenario will explore the response to a Magnitude 9.0 Earthquake along the Cascadia Subduction Zone.

 

 

 

Discussion-based exercise play begins at the 96th hour post rupture and will explore two core capabilities: Critical Transportation and Mass Care Services. The Tabletop Exercises (TTX) will be held virtually using the Microsoft Teams. The virtual venue will allow this exercise series to be inclusive of participants from across the state in a safe environment. The MS Teams TTX sessions are accessible by the Teams application or by using a web browser.

 

 

 

This exercise is set to collectively explore, identify and prioritize state, tribal, and local Critical Transportation routes and collectively assess Mass Care Services sheltering, feeding, and hydration needs; and capability gaps following a catastrophic incident.

 

 


Exercise Series

 

  • Critical Transportation TTX (13 June, 9:00 a.m. till 3:30 p.m.)
  • Mass Care Services TTX (15 June, 8:00 a.m. till 4:30 p.m.)
  • Combined Hotwash (16 June, 9:00 a.m. till 2:30 p.m.)

 


Audience

 

Washington tribes/nations, state agencies, political subdivisions, emergency management agencies/organizations, local jurisdictions, non-governmental organizations, non-profit and volunteer organizations, the private sector, and federal partners.

 

 

 

Players:

 

Players actively discuss or perform their regular roles and responsibilities during the exercise. Players discuss or initiate actions in response to the simulated emergency. Players should be expected to answer exercise questions and represent their respective organization's interests.

Observers:

 

Observers do not directly participate in the exercise. However, they may help develop player responses to the situation during the discussion by asking relevant questions or providing subject matter expertise.
